Pool earthing has a deadline
Pool earthing, also called equipotential bonding, connects the conductive parts of the pool so there is no voltage difference between them. It has to be installed before the concrete is poured or the tiles go down. Miss that stage and it becomes expensive to fix, so bring the electrician in when the pool builder books the shell.
Plan for more equipment than you think
A basic pool needs a pump and a chlorinator. Add a heat pump, pH dosing, lighting, a spa blower and a robotic cleaner and you quickly run out of outlets and capacity. A dedicated pool sub-board with surge protection keeps it all separate from the house circuits.
Weatherproof, labelled and reachable
Every piece of pool equipment should have its own weatherproof outlet or isolator, clearly labelled, and mounted where you can reach it without leaning over the pump. It makes servicing and fault finding far easier.
Lighting finishes the job
LED pool lights run from a transformer, and smart controllers let you change colours from your phone. Low voltage garden, step and wall lights around the pool make the space usable at night and safer to walk around.
Paperwork
At the end you should receive a Certificate of Compliance for the electrical work. Keep it with your pool compliance documents.
